ECO! CROCHET WORKSHOP
NATURAL SCRUB MITT : with Maite Allwood
Learn the traditional skills of crochet using a natural vegetable fibre with a Scottish heritage.
After knitting for 30years, Maite taught herself to crochet and went on to develop this into a small business, ‘Knotty but nice’. Based in Angus, and living beside one of the last twine producers in the UK, she now uses twine as her main yarn. Crochet your own natural sponge with garden twine.
Say no to plastic and make your own exfoliating mitt or kitchen sponge.
Learn the traditional skills of crochet using a natural and vegetal fibre with a Scottish heritage - twine!
Maïté will introduce basic crochet techniques such as single chain, double crochet, half treble to create a flat fabric worked in rows.
Students will create a small and large scrubby using non dyed Nutscene twine. Come and refresh your skills or...start from scratch! You will leave with a pattern for your make so you can practice more at home.
Tea and coffee available at the Centre, but please bring a packed lunch!
